Absence Tardy Policy

The state attendance laws require regular school attendance and punctuality.  It has been well demonstrated that regular attendance is a key factor in the success a student achieves at school.  Section 48260 of the Education Code is quoted as follows:  “Any pupil subject to compulsory full-time education or to compulsory continuation education who is absent form school without valid excuse three full days in one school year or tardy or absent for more than any 30-minute period during the school day without a valid excuse on three occasions in one school year, or any combination thereof, is a truant and shall be reported to the attendance supervisor or to the superintendent of the school district.”

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to notify the school of any absence/tardy.  All reasons for absences must be satisfactorily confirmed by the student’s parent/guardian in person, in writing, or by telephone within 5 days that the absence began or it will be marked unexcused.
